Doctoral Dissertation Defense at the College of Education for Human Sciences, University of Anbar

The Department of History at the College of Education for Human Sciences, University of Anbar, witnessed the defense of a Doctoral dissertation (Ph.D.) entitled: "Economic and Cultural Relations Between Egypt and the United States of America 1981–2011"

The defense took place on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at the Abu Al-Thanaa Al-Alusi Hall in the Deanship of the College of Education for Human Sciences, University of Anbar.

Research Objectives

The dissertation, submitted by the student Ahmed Rakhat Madab Ali, aimed to shed light on the nature of economic and cultural relations between Egypt and the United States of America, analyze the factors influencing their development, and uncover the aspects and fields of cooperation. Furthermore, it sought to evaluate the repercussions of these relations on the Egyptian reality during the specified period, as well as to clarify the interconnectedness between the economic and cultural dimensions and their role in supporting the strategic interests of both countries.

Key Findings

The study concluded that economic and cultural relations represented one of the fundamental pillars of the Egyptian-American partnership, as US economic aid and investments contributed to supporting a number of Egyptian economic sectors. Meanwhile, cultural, educational, and media cooperation formed an important tool for enhancing communication between the two societies. The study also demonstrated that the development of these relations was closely linked to political, regional, and international variables, and that both the economic and cultural dimensions played an influential role in the continuity of bilateral relations throughout the period of study, despite various challenges and transformations.
